Headlight Restoration

Restore Your Headlights, Get Better Visibility, and Make Your Car Look Newer

Foggy or Faded Headlights?

Do your headlights have a foggy-hazy look to them? Maybe you’ve noticed your visibility at night or during the rainy times is much lower. No worries, you don’t have to replace them, nor do you have to open up your lens (as many people think the haziness is from the inside of the lens. Most of the time it’s not).

Your headlights, just like your paint, have a clear coat on them. As the suns beats on it week after week, the clear coat starts to deteriorate. Eventually what was the clear coat turns into an ugly yellow layer gunk.

Headlight restoration is the process of restoring the clarity and brightness of your car’s headlights, which can become dull, cloudy, or yellowed over time due to various factors such as UV exposure, dirt, rain, and chemicals. Headlight restoration can improve your visibility and safety on the road, as well as enhance the appearance and value of your vehicle.

We don’t use a generic headlight repair kit that you find at your local auto parts store. We go through a full 8-step sanding, compounding, polishing, and protection process to offer the best results. Check it out below!

The Ultimate Headlight Restoration Process:

1

Start sanding headlight with 800 grit

The first round of sanding is where the oxidization is removed. You'll see a lot of slurry come off.

2

Sand headlight with 1,000 grit

As we move up the process we remove less oxidization.

3

Sand with 1,500 grit

You can start to see a noticeable difference in the clarity of the headlights.

4

Sand with 2,500 grit

5

Sand with 3,000 grit

The final sanding step, the headlight is looking much clearer.

6

Compound the headlight

Using a cutting disc, compound, and machine polisher, we'll remove the sanding marks.

7

Polish the headlight

Finally, we'll refine the cutting step to bring out maximum clarity with a light polish and polishing pad.

8

Protect the headlight

For protection, we'll apply a 1-year ceramic coating. This will provide durable protection.

Headlight Restoration Fact FAQs

How long does this service take?

It depends on the size and condition, but it typically takes 45 to 90 minutes to complete. If the condition is severe, it’ll take longer.

Can you restore any headlights?

Like many things, once the headlights get to a certain point, there is only so much we can do to restore them to a like-new condition. Your headlights can look better after we’re done, but there can also be permanent damage.

How do I keep my headlights looking good?

It can be a bit tricky. Typical waxes and sealants will only protect your car for so long. If you park your car in the shade most of the time, then they’ll simply last longer than if you park outside in the sun most of the time.

You can apply a sealant or wax to your headlights every 3 to 5 weeks. This can take less than 15 minutes to do.
